COVID-19 Booster Shots Available At LBPHD

Loup Basin Public Health Department (LBPHD) has the COVID-19 booster shot available to those who meet certain criteria. Individuals who are 65 years or older, long term care residents, those who are at high risk for severe disease (immunocompromised or having underlying health conditions), and front-line workers meet the criteria to receive the booster shot.

Those who qualify for a booster are eligible six months after their 2nd dose of a mRNA (Pfizer or Moderna) vaccine or two months after their single shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine. An individual 18 and older, can choose to receive the same booster as their initial vaccine or choose a different brand (mix-and-match) as approved by the FDA/CDC.

Vaccine clinics are held every Tuesday at LBPHD from 8:30 A.M.-4:00 P.M. LBPHD offers Pfizer for those 12 years and older and Moderna or Johnson & Johnson for those who are 18 years and older.

Currently, the Pfizer vaccine is being evaluated by the FDA, Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), and CDC for 5–11-year-old children. A final decision is expected the first week of November.

Loup Basin Public Health Department serves nine counties including Blaine, Custer, Garfield, Greeley, Howard, Loup, Sherman, Valley, and Wheeler.
