Brian V. Haumont II, age 32 of Hershey, Nebraska, appeared in Custer County Court on Monday, November 4th, for his first appearance. Haumont is charged with nine counts of 2nd degree forgery ($5,000 or more) and nine additional counts of identity theft ($5,000 or more). All 18 counts are Class IIA felonies. The alleged charges occurred in February of this year in Custer County. The defendant informed the court he is hiring an attorney and Judge Tami Schendt set a status hearing for December 2nd at 10:00 a.m. Haumont’s bond was continued.
Also appearing in Custer County Court on November 4th was Shawn M. Branthoover, age 55 of Berwyn. Branthoover made his first appearance on charges of failure to register as a sex offender, a Class IIIA felony. A preliminary hearing was set for December 2nd at 3:00 and his bond was continued.
The last criminal felony case to come before Judge Tami Schendt on Monday was that of State v. Adrienne M. Jenkins, age 33 of Broken Bow. Jenkins is charged with three counts—burglary, a Class IIA felony; criminal mischief, a Class IV felony; and 3rd degree assault, a Class I misdemeanor. The defendant waived her right to a preliminary hearing and the case was bound over to the Custer County District Court where she will appear on December 19th at 9:30 a.m.
