Construction slated to start Monday on courthouse steps

BROKEN BOW, NE – According to Custer County Clerk Connie Gracey, construction will begin on the front steps of the Custer County Courthouse on Monday, April 22 if weather conditions allow.

Visitors needing to conduct business at the courthouse are asked to park on the west side of the building, either in the parking lot or in adjacent street parking. According to Custer County Supervisor Dwain Bryner, employees that work in the building are being asked to park in the lot to the north so that more parking is open for visitors.

Bryner also told KCNI/KBBN that the project will result in the steps on the east side of the building being wider and easier to traverse. He also stated the steps needed renovation due to breaking and crumbling anyway, and that the redesign was a way to revitalize them while also making them easier to use.

The project is expected to take between four and six weeks.
