COMSTOCK – Comstock’s annual 4th of July celebration is here and it is packed full of fun.
The celebration will be held on Tuesday, July 4th. The day starts with a sand volleyball tournament at 9:00 a.m. in the city park. Contact Don Bruha at (308) 215-8053 to register.
The parade is at 10:30 and all entries must be registered by 9:30 to be eligible for prizes. The theme is “Toys of Our Youth” and prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place of each division. There will also be an overall grand prize. To pre-enter, contact Sterling or Deb Ritz at (308) 628-4291.
At noon is the BBQ meal at the Community hall. It will cost $10 for a full meal. There will also be pie and ice cream at The Den.
At 1:00 is the Big Iron Tug of War, and at 1:30 is the horseshoe tournament. The kids can enjoy kids’ races, egg toss, penny showers, and turtle races. The Snack Shack opens by the ball field at 3:00. At 4:30 is the cornhole tournament at the ballpark. To enter, contact Jamie Kozeal at (308) 215-8120.
At 7:00, fun activities and ball games are at the ballpark.
To end the day, at dark is the firework show put on by the volunteer firefighters.
All donations will be recognized with a poster at the BBQ and will be said during the parade and ball games. If you would like to donate, you can send your donations to the Comstock Community Club c/o Terry Drake 46331 804 A Road in Comstock.
