A fund that has been in the works since 2007 recently resulted in a $10,000 grant being presented to the City of Sargent from the Custer County Foundation for a new pool heater.

In 2007, a donor worked with the foundation to establish the Sargent Field of Interest Endowment fund, wanting to help the community of Sargent far into the future. The fund’s purpose is to assist Sargent with community projects that have broad support.

The fund has been growing for 15 years, and is now at a point where it’s able to have a huge impact on Sargent. The Sargent swimming pool has been a gathering place for those of all ages for years, and pools are an important part of many communities. This grant from the Sargent Field of Interest Endowment Fund will ensure the Sargent pool continues to be a big part of the community for years to come.

“A field of interest fund is a way that donors can support projects or communities that they’re passionate about while they’re living or after they’ve passed. A lot of people aren’t aware of these type of funds that the foundation offers, and it’s just a great way for you to continue to give back to the community or the causes that you’re passionate about”, said Lindsay Cook, Executive Director of the Custer County Foundation.
