BROKEN BOW – In a press release from the Broken Bow Police Department:
The Broken Bow Police Department has had two incidents reported of “check washing”, in which persons take acetone and take the writing off the checks of businesses and then add it back on, including the logo of the businesses, changing who it is paid to and the format of the checks; keeping the account number and routing numbers the same.
The losses have been well over $100,000.00. The two that have been reported are connected to the Ag business but BBPD caution’s any business to be aware and consider this when mailing checks.
