Casey M. Hall Sentenced on Two Counts of Possession of Child Pornography

Casey M. Hall, age 48 of Neligh, appeared in Custer County Distirct Court on Thursday, November 20 for sentencing. In September of this year, Hall entered into a plea agreement where he pleaded no contest to two counts of possession of child pornography, class IIA felonies, in exchange for the state dismissing nine other counts. At that time, he was found guilty and a presentence investigation (PSI) was ordered.

After review of the PSI as well as hearing from the state and the defense attorney, Judge Karin Noakes remarked that the defendant was guilty of committing some of the most serious offenses in the state of Nebraska. She added that he also didn’t appear empathetic to the minor victims whose videos and photos were found on his personal cell phone. Judge Noakes concluded by stating she believed the defendant was a danger to society and therefore not an appropriate candidate for probation.

Hall was sentenced to 5-10 years incarceration in the Nebraska Department of Corrections on each count with the terms to run consecutively. He was given credit for 17 days served and was remanded to the Custer County Sheriff.

Also appearing for sentencing Thursday was Riggin C. Temple, age 27 of Ainsworth. On September 18, Temple was found guilty on one count of operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, a Class IV felony. Following review of the presentence investigation (PSI) and review of exhibits that were entered into record, Judge Noakes sentenced Temple to four years probation with terms and conditions as outlined in the PSI.
