Callaway Pioneer Picnic Begins Friday, June 28

CALLAWAY- Callaway’s Annual Pioneer Picnic starts on Friday, June 28, and ends on Sunday, June 30.

Starting on Friday, the swimming pool will be open at noon. Then at 2, the Seven Valleys Museum will be open. The SVRA Rodeo begins at 7:30 p.m. From 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. the street dance will go on with the Tim Rice Band at Shotgun Annie’s. 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Henry’s Bar is karaoke with breakfast burritos provided by Mrs. Robinson’s Café.

Saturday starts off with a Fun Run at Morgan Park at 8 a.m. Then at 9, the library hosts sidewalk chalk. At 9:30 a.m. Henry’s Famous Bloody Mary’s will be available at Henry’s Bar.

The parade starts at 10:45 on Kimball Street, and lineup begins at 10 at the school. This year’s theme is Callaway Strong, and there will be winners in all categories including youngest, oldest, best-dressed float, church, tractor, car, marching band, and horse.

At Morgan Park is a kid’s carnival starting at noon with Tropical Sno, Cow Pie Bingo, and Cars in the park. At 12:30 kid’s races, train rides, and BINGO begin. And, at 1, dodgeball, cornhole, and duck races start.

At 8:30 is the street dance at Henry’s Bar with entertainment including Hockett, Drew Phillips Band, and Downtown Nowhere. At midnight Shotgun Annie’s will have a breakfast buffet.

On Sunday, breakfast provided by the American Legion will be at the community center. At Morgan Park starting at 10 the Cook Shack will be open and there will be church in the park. At noon, Tropical Sno opens and the kid’s tractor pull will go on. BINGO will start at 1 and the Toad and Turtle Boogie will begin at 2:30. To end off the celebration, at 5:30 is the SVRA Rodeo.
