The 32nd Annual Callaway Kite Flight will be held this Labor Day weekend at the 200-acre Foster Smith Field four miles southeast of Callaway on Highway 40. Kites will fly from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at that location on both Saturday, September 2nd and Sunday, September 3rd. Admission for the kite flight is $5 for adults, $3 for children, or $25 for the entire family.

Other activities held at Foster Smith Field on Saturday and Sunday include a face painter/balloon artist from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., and a watermelon feed at 1:00 each afternoon. Ice cream and sno cone vendors will be at the location, along with barrel train rides for kids.

On Saturday, a catfish fry in honor of Gary “Kumbo” Kumm, will be held at 5 p.m. at Henry’s, an indoor flight is planned at 8 p.m. at the Callaway Community Center, and at 10 p.m., the day’s events will conclude with a night flight back at Foster Smith Field.

In addition to the kite flight again on Sunday, other events planned for that day include a “No Excuse Bull Riding” at the Callaway Rodeo Grounds. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the rodeo starts at 7. A Cowboy Calcutta will be held at intermission.
