BROKEN BOW – Amidst a storm that brought tornado warnings, thunderstorm warnings, and reports of confirmed tornadoes across central Nebraska and Custer County, a building in Broken Bow succumbed to strong winds.
Just north of the South 5th Avenue and South C Street intersection, pieces of a building could be seen both on the street as well as wrapped around a nearby power pole. Likely not a coincidence, much of Broken Bow was reporting being without power at about the same time the first calls for response to the building occurred just after 7 PM.
Exact buildings damaged by the storm could not be confirmed, but the three neighboring structures house Culligan of Broken Bow, JolRan Dance Academy, and U-Haul/Dave Hendrickson Construction.
KCNI/KBBN observed fire and rescue crews from both Broken Bow and Merna on scene. A perimeter was set up quickly while electric and gas crews joined damage assessment and cleanup as the sun set Tuesday evening.
