BROKEN BOW – The Custer County Ag Society met for both a budget hearing and regular board meeting on Thursday evening (September 12) at the Custer County Fairgrounds.
The board voted unanimously to both approve the $184,230 budget approved by the Custer County Board of Supervisors as well as an amended budget that reflected the extra 1% being approved by the supervisors in addition to the regular 2 1/2% increase.
In regular board meeting business, Jentri Cain was introduced as the new office assistant. Resounding appreciation for her work so far was heard from all board members.
In committee reports, the sponsorship committee met recently and discussed a possible streamlining of sponsorship packages so that local businesses aren’t asked as frequently for sponsorship support. The winter ball committee has been working on finalizing a venue for this year’s winter ball. The One Box Convention Center was not available for the desired date, and a short discussion seemed to be heading in the direction of deciding to have the ball at the Broken Bow Municipal Building.
With Mid States Rodeo taking place this weekend at the fairgrounds, Casey Cooksley reported that participants are already arriving, panels are set up, and rough stock is coming in as well.
Junk Jaunt is taking place the weekend of the 28th, and Cain reported to the board that barns 6, 7, and 8 have already been filling up steadily this week.
