Bruning Bank hosts Grow to Give produce drive for families in need

Bruning Bank is hosting a “Grow to Give” food drive in September, collecting excess garden vegetables. The produce will then be distributed through the Broken Bow Food Pantry on September 4th and 11th.

According to Bruning Vice President Shantel Daake, the bank is holding an “abundance garden food drive”, collecting gardeners’ extra vegetables two days in September.

“We know we have some green thumbs in the area,” Daake said. “Maybe at this point your garden is thriving and you’re not able to use it all.”

Loan Administrator Jen Weems added, “It’s hard sometimes when people aren’t able to grow their own gardens.” Weems noted their food drive will allow these individuals to have a fresh salad, or include a healthy option in their child’s lunchbox at school.

The first drop-off day is September 3rd, with a follow-up drop-off day on Wednesday, September 10th. Gardeners can bring any extra vegetables they may have to Bruning Bank on the square in Broken Bow for collection during business hours. The produce will be available at the Broken Bow Food Pantry, located at 1100 South 6th Ave., on Thursday, September 4th, and Thursday, September 11th, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm each day.
