32 year old John P. Brouillette of Broken Bow appeared before Judge Tami K. Schendt Monday morning without counsel. On December 8, 2024, Brouillette was charged with assault by strangulation, a Class 3A felony, third degree domestic assault, a Class I misdemeanor, and disturbing the peace, a Class 3 misdemeanor. Brouillette requested a court appointed attorney and a preliminary hearing was set for February 24th at 2pm.
39 year old Miranda L. Luera of Broken Bow waived her right to a preliminary hearing and Judge Schendt scheduled a plea entry appearance for January 23rd at 9:30am. Luera is charged with Count I, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute methamphetamine, a Class II felony; Count II, possession of marijuana less than one ounce, an infraction; Count III, possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction; and Count IV, failure to use a turn signal, an infraction. The charges stem from an arrest on November 28th, 2024.
35 year old Thomas S. Thies of Ansley plead no contest to an amended charge of assault (causing bodily injury) stemming from an incident on August 25, 2024. An additional charge was dropped as part of a plea agreement. Thies was found guilty, and Judge Schendt ordered a presentence investigation. Sentencing for Thies will take place March 24th at 10am.
