BROKEN BOW, Neb. – A local Girl Scout from Broken Bow has proven that determination can lead to big things. Lenora Bryson recently joined the prestigious ‘1,000 Box Club’ after selling 1,161 boxes of Girl Scout cookies during this year’s cookie season.

Lenora, a Cadette in Girl Scouts and soon-to-be 7th grader, has been in Girl Scouts since Kindergarten when she started as a Daisy. She has always enjoyed cookie season, but set her sights higher than ever before. Initially driven by a Build-A-Bear prize for selling 900 boxes, she decided to aim for 1,000 with encouragement from her troop leader Brandi Oeltjen.
Throughout the season, Lenora could be seen around town with her cookie wagon, visiting local businesses, and going door-to-door in her neighborhood. She even sold cookies to teachers and administrators during recess and helped at cookie booths set up at Kinkaider Brewing and Grocery Kart in addition to support from loyal customers through online orders.
With her sales, around $1,000 was raised for her Girl Scout troop, which is fundraising for a trip to Savannah, Georgia next year where they will visit the birthplace of Girl Scouts founder Juliette Gordon Low.
Lenora was one of only 130 Girl Scouts across Nebraska to sell over 1,000 boxes this year, and she ranked #51 in the state for total sales. Thanks to generous monetary contributions and the “Care to Share” program, Lenora was also able to donate several boxes to those in need as well.
As a member of the 1000 Club or $2,000 Club, Girl Scouts earn special recognition and rewards in addition to a ceremony, including a certificate and medal, exclusive club camps, and bragging rights for life.
Both Lenora and her family expressed their gratitude to friends, family, and local businesses for their support of her cookie-selling mission.
