BROKEN BOW- Students from Broken Bow are taking the phrase “spring cleaning” to a whole new level next Wednesday (April 3) by hosting a community cleanup day. The cleanup day was originally scheduled for March 27, but due to the late March snow, had to be moved.

Broken Bow middle and high school principal Dan Helberg told KCNI/KBBN that while juniors and freshman are taking the ACT and pre-ACT tests, sophomores and seniors will be out and about doing community projects.

“We’ve come up with a few projects that we’re going to do. We’re going to try to go downtown to the square and paint up the bandstand, clean up the flower beds, get out to Melham and do some touch-up there. We’re going to do some pickup around the school itself and hopefully get out onto some of the roads and do some litter pickup on the well traveled stretches of the community.”

In addition to the already planned projects, the 10 groups of about 10 kids each are looking for other projects, even as simple as helping rake and clean up a yard.

“I just wanted to throw out an invitation and if anyone has an idea of something they would like to see done, give us a call at the school and we’ll put it on our list to get done. We’re going to try to have the kids work from 8:30 to 11:30 and we’ll have a teacher supervising them out there in the community.”

If you have a cleanup project idea, the school phone number is 308-872-2475.
