The Broken Bow public library will be hosting a “Raise the Roof” Fundraiser on June 17th. Director of the Broken Bow library, Megan Svoboda, visited with KCNI/KBBN radio about the upcoming event.
“As you know the library was renovated about eight years ago. During that time, we did not put a new roof on, so we’ve had some questions about that. This is to raise some money to help with the expense of putting a new roof on. It won’t be the whole library. The new part does not need a new roof but it’s all of the old part basically. So that’s what we are trying to do. Just help raise some money to give to the city because we realize that yes, they are willing to help us with this but just show our appreciation because they definitely appreciate the library and what we’re doing. They want to take ownership in that but just to show that that’s really great that you’re willing to help us take care of this beautiful building.”
The fundraiser will include a popcorn bar, music bingo, and a silent auction. Svoboda said that the auction will include some great items several of which will be homemade.
“We have a lot of neat (items) most of our items have been donated or, like we have a nice quilt that has been donated that we are going to auction off. We have baked goods and just all kinds of little different unique that we are trying to auction off.”
The “Raise the Roof” Fundraiser will take place Tuesday beginning at 4 p.m. at the Broken Bow Library and is part of the “Give 4 Custer County” giving event through the Custer County Foundation.
