Dane Sidel, a senior at Broken Bow High School has an E-Sports scholarship to Highland Community College in Highland Kansas.
The Esports Scholarship is an Academic Scholarship in the amount equal to tuition and book rental up to 18 hours per semester.
Highland Community College has over 40 student-athletes competing in Esports daily, and they compete in the National Esports Collegiate Association league the National Esports Collegiate Conference, and the Wildcat League.
Dane Sidel spoke about how he believes he caught the Highland Community College Eport’s attention.

“A lot of my past tournament performances, I’ve traveled a lot to towns like Lincoln, I am going up to Omaha soon for another tournament. Of course, we have my Esports results with the school before the team ended up dissolving. But the main thing outside of school Esports, I have to go and compete in person with a ton of other people at different tournaments mainly in Lincoln.”
Sidel will be studying computer science and will be competing in Super Smash Bros while being a sub for the other games that Highland Community College competes in.
The different Esports games that Highland Community College competes in are Overwatch 2, Rocket League, Valorant, Call of Duty, Smash Bros, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Apex, Fortnite, League of Legends, Madden, Rainbow 6, NBA2k, and FIFA.
