First responders throughout the area have certainly had their hands full recently. Between a power plant explosion, several grass fires, and multiple structure fires not much rest has been available to those we depend on to keep us safe.
Originally announced at the beginning of January, the Broken Bow Lions Club’s fundraiser for the Broken Bow Ambulance Service is approaching this Sunday (March 9). The event’s flyer puts it perfectly: “We will all need them one day!”

David Baltz with Broken Bow Emergency Services said that their number one need is continuing education for current members as well as a number of new service members. This includes signing up for conferences and courses, traveling to them, and sometimes staying overnight.
A free will donation lunch and silent auction are included as a part of the event, as well as a gun raffle.
Silent auction items listed on the Broken Bow Lions Club Facebook page include a dozen decorated sugar cookies (x2), a leather cell phone carrying bag, a fourteen item dip and seasoning kit, one year of wellness and a pair of orthotics, a voucher for one full service oil change, a kids horse figurine toy, decorative candle holders, Scentsy items, custom EMS tumblers, Henry Doorly Zoo admission tickets, Husker baseball tickets, a movie snack and gift card bundle, Montana Silversmith jewelry, and several gift certificates and gift cards.
The gun raffle will have participants competing for a Ruger 10/22 75th Anniversary rifle with a natural finished hardwood stock. Tickets have been selling in advance at $5 each or six for $20.
Those wishing to drop off donations, purchase raffle tickets, or that have questions are encouraged to call Julie Toline at 402-677-9323.
Attendees are also encouraged to bring desserts to share if they would like.
