Broken Bow Elks Lodge to Host Elktoberfest 5K Run/Walk & 1 Mile Walk

BROKEN BOW–The first annual “Elktoberfest” 5K Fun Run/Walk and 1 mile loop walk is scheduled for Saturday, October 8 at Melham Park in Broken Bow. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. and racers will convene at the starting line for a 9 a.m. start.

The event requires a $25 entry fee which includes a t-shirt if registered by September 20. The t-shirt deadline may have already passed, but event organizer Kayla Haberstick says all are still welcome to register or can register on the day of the race.

“Our Elks Lodge has been a staple in our community for several years–multiple decades–and so we’re trying to recruit younger members and show the public we’re still out there, we’re still doing service projects but we also like to have fun! So this was a great way for us to do a run, get people active, get them out in the community, and show them that our organization is still active and they are more than welcome to become a part of it,” Haberstick told KCNI/KBBN.

Haberstick encourages community members to bring the whole family out to the Elktoberfest 5K Fun Run/Walk and bring your dog, your stroller, or whatever works for you!

Send payment to the Broken Bow Elks Lodge at 620 North 13th Avenue, Broken Bow, NE 68822.

Please email questions to [email protected].

Proceeds from the 5K will help build up membership committee funds to promote member participation and social events. (Stay tuned for information about future fun events!)

Other upcoming Elks projects include the Ghouls and Goblins Halloween Party, Veterans Dinners, Mr. and Mrs. Claus Christmas Event, and the Elks Coat Drive.
