BROKEN BOW – The Broken Bow City Council held its regular mid-month meeting at 6 p.m. at the Municipal Building’s Auditorium. Councilman Myers was absent and excused.
The council approved the minutes for the February 24 regular meeting and the March 7 special meeting, as well as the bills as posted, with an exception made for three line items: two for mileage expenses for council member Paul Holland and council president David Schmidt for their attendance at a municipal conference, and council member Baltz for EMS incentive pay.
Electric Superintendent Blake Waldow addressed the council regarding Ordinance 1267; the superintendent clarified that nothing changed in the Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska’s (MEAN) Green Energy Program contract except for wording.
“This is a different contract which just takes ‘gas,’ ‘landfill,’ and ‘wind’ energy and changes the name to ‘green’ energy. The contract will remain the same, there are no changes.”
The ordinance was approved unanimously; additionally, Waldow would be appointed Director of the MEAN Board of Directors, and City Treasurer Megan Linn Alternative Director through Resolution 2023-1.
Kayti Kremlacek and David Minnick were reappointed to the Airport Board, and Robert Staab was newly appointed to the board unanimously. All three terms will run until February 2025.
Ryan Vonderohe, Pat Powers, and Russ Smith were all unanimously reappointed to the Park Board; their terms will end in February of 2027.
Additionally, the board announced an invitation for bids for the roof repair project on the Municipal Building; all bids must be received at the City Clerk’s Office no later than 11 a.m. on April 7.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 p.m., with the next council meeting scheduled for March 28.
