Broken Bow City Council Ends February 14th Meeting in Closed Session

The Broken Bow City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, February 14th at the Municipal Auditorium. After approval of the Consent Agenda, Library Director Megan Svoboda presented the Library’s Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2021-22. Svoboda noted that users saved nearly $463,000 by borrowing, rather than buying, physical and digital items from the library. Other data from the report noted 22,416 library visitors during the 2021-22 fiscal year, 604 uses of the study rooms and multi-purpose rooms, and nearly 6,200 people attending library events. Under old business, the Council approved Ordinance 1266 that will replat several acres in the city with the intent of creating a second subdivision, consisting of 32 housing lots, in Eagle Crest. The Council also approved full purchase of the Handi Bus valued at $34,200 to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Under new business, the Council postponed action on bids for repairing the roof on the Municipal Building, approved Scott Adams as a new board member to the Board of Public Works for a term ending June 2026, and approved authorizing Mayor Sonnichsen to sign an agreement with the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles that would authorize Broken Bow as a RST test site. The next Council meeting will be on Friday, February 24th at 12:00 noon, rather than on Tuesday, February 28th as several Council members and the mayor will be at a conference. The Council then moved into closed session in order to discuss pending possible litigation. The Mayor said no action would be taken following closed session.
