Broken Bow Chamber banquet honors 38 businesses, outstanding citizens

BROKEN BOW – The Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce hosted a wonderful evening at its 11th annual banquet at the One Box Convention Center on Saturday.

In addition to celebrating Broken Bow’s business success over the past year, the Chamber’s banquet provides an opportunity to highlight all manner of achievements ranging from area business milestones to those individuals who have been exemplary citizens.

Thirty-eight businesses were honored with anniversaries from the all-important first 5 years to a remarkable 145 years strong. Of those 38, 26 appeared in person to accept their awards for keeping Broken Bow and the surrounding area vibrant and growing.

Lillie Kate Boutique celebrated its 5th year in business. Cobblestone Inn & Suites, Hunter’s Towing, Ortello Dale, and Power Solutions were on hand to receive awards for 10 years in Broken Bow, Runza for 15, and Backbone of Healthcare Chiropractic, Community Connection, the Custer Economic Development Corporation, and Fox Theater celebrated 20 year anniversaries.

Fixed Right Auto Body, Off Broadway Apartments, and the Wholeness Healing Center marked 25 years in business, and the Custer Transfer Station, Kirkpatrick Cleaning Solutions, and Richardson Rentals hit 30 years on Saturday.

Custer Floral & Gifts and the Grocery Kart just eclipsed 40 years, and Central Nebraska Vet Service and Rod’s Body and Paint passed 45.

Present to celebrate 50 years were the Central Nebraska Medical Clinic and TEAM Physical Therapy. Lyne’s Appliance is now in its 50th year in business.

The Arrow Hotel celebrated its 90th anniversary, and the Custer County Ag Society its 140th. Astoundingly, Beckenhauer Construction would pass 145 years in business on Saturday.

Awards for individual and business achievement were presented as well; the Chamber’s Business of the Year was Nebraska State Bank and Trust, and its Nonprofit of the Year went to the Custer Economic Development Corporation. Excellence in Customer Service-Business was awarded to RT Ace Hardware.

Melanee Nixon would take home the Excellence in Customer Service-Individual Award, and the Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year as voted on by members would go to Chris Smith.
