CUSTER COUNTY – Memorial Day is less than a week away, and many communities around the county will be honoring the day with services and events.
In Broken Bow, Gene Hendricks of the Broken Bow American Legion is inviting anyone interested to help place American flags at gravestones in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Those who wish to assist in the flag placement should meet in the Broken Bow Cemetery on Thursday, May 25 at 6 p.m.
Broken Bow’s Memorial Day program will then be held in the cemetery on Memorial Day proper: Monday, the 29 at 10 a.m.
In Callaway, the Callaway Good Life Center will be holding its annual “Walk of Flags” event on Friday at 1:30 p.m., according to the Callaway Courier. The event honors all the veterans in the nursing home. Callaway will also be holding its Memorial Day program on Monday, May 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the Rose Hill Cemetery.
At 10 a.m. on Monday, Merna will be holding its Memorial Day service at the Merna Cemetery, with Denise Sughayar as its keynote speaker. All programs are listed on the Community Calendar.
