CUSTER COUNTY – The Custer County District Court heard two arraignments on Thursday morning.
James L Barta, 34 of Broken Bow was arraigned on three charges and pleaded not guilty to all three: domestic assault (Class IIIA Felony)which holds a maximum of three years imprisonment, a $10,000 fine, or both, resisting arrest (Class I misdemeanor) which holds a maximum of one-year imprisonment, a $1,000 fine or both, and obstructing a police officer (Class I misdemeanor)which also holds a maximum of one-year imprisonment, a $1,000 fine or both. A jury trial is set for July 10, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. in the Custer County District Court.
Sam G Payton, 45 of Callaway was arraigned on two charges and pleaded not guilty to both: third-degree domestic assault (Class IIIA Felony) which carries a maximum of three years imprisonment, a $10,000 fine or both, and terroristic threats, (Class IIIA Felony), which also carries a maximum of three years imprisonment. A just trial is set for July 10, 2024, at 9:00 a.m.
