BROKEN BOW — Broken Bow Ambulance Service (BBAS) has added a brand-new ambulance to its fleet, bringing the total to three fully Advanced Life Support (ALS) equipped units. The purchase from Danko Emergency Equipment in Snyder was picked up by BBAS members on Wednesday and transported back to Broken Bow.

The expansion comes as call volume has grown 10–20% each year since 2021. In addition to 911 emergencies, BBAS provides interfacility transports to higher-level care centers. Over the past year, advanced medical equipment—including a ventilator—was added, allowing the safe transfer of critically ill patients.

“With three ALS equipped ambulances, we will be better positioned to respond when our community needs us most,” said Chief David Baltz. “Every ambulance carries advanced equipment, and with an ALS provider available, each unit can deliver the highest level of emergency care. We also operate a quick response unit for ALS intercepts with surrounding Basic Life Support (BLS) services.”

BBAS currently staffs 9 ALS providers (Paramedics, AEMTs, and RNs), 19 EMTs, and 5 CPR-trained drivers. Many members are advancing their training, moving from driver to EMT, EMT to AEMT/Paramedic, or AEMT to Paramedic.

The service thanked the City of Broken Bow, City Council, the Mayor, the City Administrator, and the community for supporting the purchase. Those interested in joining are encouraged to visit the station for an application.
