Brady, Gothenburg seize district speech titles sending several to state

Both Brady and Gothenburg were among teams competing in district speech meets that took place on Wednesday, at South Platte and Gothenburg respectively. Each team was able to achieve a district championship as a result of seeing great success in individual events.

Placing in the top three at districts and punching their ticket to state for Brady were Helen Drinkuth and Zoe Johnson in entertainment speaking, Ava Foster and Carlee Tillman in informative speaking, Abigail Robison in oral interpretation of serious prose, Brooke Lydic in persuasive speaking, and Abigail Robison and Violet Gentry in program oral interpretation.

Gothenburg was impressive at the district meet they hosted, coming off of a recent conference championship. In all, the school saw all members of the team medal including seven district champions and 14 state qualifiers.

Gothenburg state qualifiers include Jack Aden/Logan Feather and Brooklyn Reiman/Carson Reiman in duet acting, Jack Aden and Lathan Buesing in entertainment speaking, Carson Reiman and Mavrix Butterfield in extemporaneous speaking, Lathan Buesing in informative speaking, Brant Miller/Carson Reiman/CarterKincheloe/Lathan Buesing/Mavrix Butterfield in OID, Jack Aden in oral interpretation of humorous prose, Logan Feather in oral interpretation of poetry, Carter Kincheloe in oral interpretation of serious prose, Rileigh McClay in persuasive speaking, and Logan Feather in program oral interpretation.

District speech continues for area schools on Friday when Arnold, McPherson County, Mullen, Stapleton, and Thedford compete at the D2-5 at Perkins County.

On Saturday, Ansley, Arcadia, Callaway, and Litchfield are at the D2-4 at Litchfield while Cozad is at the B-6 event at Gering.
