Bovee Fire Update: October 7, 8:55 A.M.

HALSEY – The Bovee Fire, as of 8:55 a.m. on Friday, October 7, is 97% contained, according to the Rocky Mountain Complex Incident Management Team.

Today is the last shift for the management team, who will hand over fire responsibilities to the Nebraska National Forest and Grasslands arm of the Forest Service at 7 a.m. Saturday. The team will leave behind 43 personnel and 4 engines to assist in cleanup.

The total acreage count of the Bovee Fire is 18,930; 5,130 of which is forested area under the Forest Service, 13,127 is mostly private grassland, and 583 is state-owned.

A Burn Area Emergency Response (BAER) Team will arrive on Saturday to assist with mop-up operations and ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
