Book Bag/School Supplies Giveaway July 22

CUSTER COUNTY- The Custer County Unit of Salvation Army will hold its annual Book Bag/School Supplies Giveaway on Monday, July 22, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Broken Bow Municipal Building.

Custer County students from preschool through 12th grade are welcome to attend, according to project co-chairman, Carol Allen. Students will be able to select backpacks and school supplies while supplies last. All children must be accompanied by an adult and doors will not open until 4:30 p.m.

This back-to-school event is one of the longest-running projects sponsored by the Salvation Army in Custer County. It is aimed at helping Custer County families who otherwise may not be able to cover the cost of back-to-school expenses, Allen said. Backpacks are provided by the Omaha office of the Salvation Army. Funds for school supplies come from the Cliff Luther Endowment, bell ringing donations, and community contributions.

Anyone who would like to donate supplies or help with the project can contact co-chairman Carol Allen at (308) 870-4397, or Debby Moninger at (308) 870-2882.
