Board of Supervisors Recap: December 12

BROKEN BOW – The Custer County Board of Supervisors held its first December meeting on Tuesday and all board members were present.

After the Board’s approval for minutes, mail, and committee reports, Anne Gibbons of District 1 made a motion for a closed session at 9:15 a.m. that ended at 10:30 a.m.

The Board made a motion to mail the 2023 tax statements which was approved.

The Custer County Chief, Callaway Courier, Arnold Sentinal, and Sargent Leader were designated as the 2024 Official Newspapers and custercountyne.gov is the designated website.

Weed Superintendent, Tim Conover gave the Nebraska Department of Ag Year End Reports and stated that in 2023 he completed a total of 124 inspections that covered 19,556 acres. Of the acres inspected, 2,624 were infected with noxious weeds. 1,954 of the infected acres were leafy spurge, 557 musk thistle, 101 phragmites, and 8 acres with Canada thistle.

Troy Walz with the Custer County Extension Ag reappointed Tabbi Seavers in District 1 to the extension board which was approved by the Board.

There was one application to cross the right of way that was Submitted by Lone Creek Cattle Company off of Road 813 for a scale 16 miles north of Broken Bow and was approved unanimously.

Healing Hearts and Families asked the board for their signature to continue the diversion program and for permission to submit a grant which was approved by the board.
