BBPS Announces December Students of the Month

BROKEN BOW – The Broken Bow Public School District has announced their December students of the month. The character trait for the final month of 2022 is compassion.

One student from each grade has been nominated by peers for their exemplary display of the month’s trait. The four students for December are:

12th grade: Emma Pearson
11th grade: Max Denson
10th grade: Jesus Flores
9th grade: Julia Fama

After each name is nominated, the list for the month is sent to school administration for approval, though the process otherwise remains entirely in the hands of the student body. The award winners receive free Runza and get their names read over the announcements.

Rachelle Haines, an educator in her 25th year in the Broken Bow Public Schools and sponsor of the student council, explained the importance of recognizing students for making good choices.

“I think anytime somebody is recognized for doing the right things or for doing things that aren’t always easy, it instills positive values in a person in a world that, maybe, at times doesn’t feel so positive.”

Once a student is nominated, they are eliminated from the pool; those sitting on the student council are not eligible for nomination until the second semester of their senior year.
