A central Nebraska community has their sights set on full roll off containers and community team effort as April days are crossed off the calendar.

Volunteers from the Arnold Rotary, Arnold Chamber, Arnold Public School, American Legion and village personnel are offering their help to those that have property in Arnold that needs cleaning up. Those wanting their name on the list for Monday (April 22) can call Patty at 308-848-2228 (Cell 308-520-4495) or Becky Dailey at 308-848-2522. The Arnold Chamber is providing meals for the volunteers.

Monday’s effort comes as a part of April’s designated “community clean up month”. A roll off container has been placed at the Village Street Shop for the convenience of citizens. Items are asked to be stacked inside until the end of the month. Items such as tires, construction rubble, appliances, batteries, computers, and household hazardous waste will not be accepted.

However, the free household hazardous waste collection event also taking place in Arnold through April 30 offers a disposal option for normally difficult items to find a spot for. Those accepted items are asked to be put on the pallet by the dumpster at the street shop at 120 South Broadway. Large loads need to be scheduled to be unloaded by calling the office.

Items disposed during the hazardous waste collection should be labeled if containers are unmarked, chemicals should not be mixed in containers, and leaking or damaged containers should be placed in heavy or double plastic bags.

Questions can be directed to the Arnold Village Office at 308-848-2228.
