ANSLEY – Ansley’s famous annual Muddy Creek Celebration returns this weekend, just in time for the first true days of summer.
From Friday, June 23 to Sunday, June 25, Ansley invites those from Custer County and beyond to experience just what makes Ansley special.
The festivities get underway on Friday afternoon with the kids’ color ride from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Ansley Public School, followed by pool games at the Ansley swimming pool from 2 to 4 p.m.
The games move to Main Street from 4 p.m. to 7, and are made possible by tremendous support from local businesses and organizations. Cotton candy, root beer floats, and other refreshments will be available throughout the evening, as will food from 3 food trucks.
To conclude the night, the teen dance will take place at the Ansley Community Building from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
On Saturday morning, the Ansley Walking Trail will be holding its “Wake Up and Walk.” Registration will open at 7:30 a.m., with the walk kicking off at 8.
Following the walk, the lineup for the parade will begin at 9 a.m., with an anticipated 10 a.m. start. This year’s theme is “Ansley through the Ages.”
A craft and vendor show will open at noon on Saturday, running through 4 p.m. Meanwhile, for those looking to catch a bit more sun, a fishing tournament will open at 12:30, and run until 3:30, when the final prizes will be awarded.
From 1 p.m. to 4, a bounce house, yard games, and kids’ races and games will unfold at the football field. American Legion Post #153 will be setting up a booth and serving homemade ice cream from 1 p.m. until they run out.
Saturday evening promises a beer garden from 4 p.m. to midnight at the Ansley Community Building; admission will be required. Live entertainment from 5 p.m. until midnight will be provided by Audation, Downtown Nowhere, and Rascal Martinez.
The final day of Muddy Creek will hold a 10 a.m. fellowship and coffee gathering, a 10:30 church service, and a potluck lunch to follow. A full itinerary of Ansley’s 2023 Muddy Creek Celebration is attached.
