ANSLEY- This year Ansley’s Muddy Creek Celebration kicks off on Friday, June 28 with the theme Movies on Main Street.
To start off the weekend on Friday at 1 is the kids color run at the school. Then, there will be pool games from 2 to 4. Main Street will be full of fun with free games, food trucks, a petting zoo, and Mel Shepard one man band all starting at 4. The Ansley cemetery tour starts at 7:30 p.m. with free admission. Finally to end the day Movies on Main Street at 8.
Saturday kicks off bright and early with the Wake Up and Walk. The walk will start at 8 a.m. on the Ansley Walking Trail at the park. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. costing $30 for adults and $15 for kids 15 and younger. The top runner, top walker, and best PJs will receive a Muddy Creek Celebration t-shirt.
The parade with the theme Movies on Main Street begins at 10 with a 9 a.m. lineup. The kids parade will lead off the festival parade. They invite kids to dress up in movie-themed costumes and bring their bikes, scooters, wagons, or feet to start off the parade. The kids will go 2 blocks, then they will be able to enjoy the rest of the parade.
The fun continues Saturday afternoon at the Ansley Park with the She Shed craft and vendor show beginning at noon at the park building. American Legion Post #153 will have homemade ice cream for sale at 1. Ansley FFA will host cow pie bingo from 11:30 to 2:30. There will be games and inflatables from 1 to 4 as well as a car show. The fishing tournament will run from 1 to 2:30, and the kickball tournament for junior high and high school students will start at 2.
At 4:30 tank races begin. Teams of four will race down the Ansley Lake by the boat ramp. Participants must be 18 years old or older and there is a $40 entry fee per team. Four life jackets will be available in each tank, and 2 tanks will be provided, but teams can bring their own 6-foot or larger tank.
On Saturday evening, the Spartan Cheer/Dance team will have a free-will donation supper starting at 5:30. The cornhole tournament starts at 6:30. From 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. the beer garden will be open at Scooters Saloon. Music by Ingrid Griffin and HoneyTown will begin at 6. The pool will be open at 8 p.m. for night swim.
On Sunday the sand volleyball tournament begins at 9 a.m., and at 9:30 a.m. a Community Church Service by Mike Ferguson will be at the Community Building.
