Ansley, Broken Bow, Mason City first responders receive donation from Invenergy

Donations totaling $6,000 were made to local fire and rescue departments in Ansley, Broken Bow, and Mason City this week. Donated by Invenergy, developer of the Prairie Hills Wind Energy Center south of Mason City and Ansley, the dollars are to contribute to general funds and supplies.

“Safety is a top priority at Invenergy, and we are proud to support the brave first responders working to protect the communities of Custer County,” said
Lindsay Mouw, Invenergy’s Local and Community Affairs Lead for Nebraska. “These donations are one way we can help give back to the community and ensure the local departments have the resources they need to support their hard-working fire crews.”

As they establish their services in our area, we look forward to building a strong partnership through collaboration and training opportunities,” said Paramedic Mason Holmes. “Invenergy’s investment in our local emergency services enhances our ability to serve our area, and we appreciate the commitment to safety that we share. We look forward to working together.”

Ansley, Broken Bow, and Mason City each received a $2,000 donation.

The Prairie Hills Wind Energy Center is a proposed 200-megawatt power generation facility in Custer County south of Mason City and Ansley. Invenergy representatives came before the Custer County Board of Supervisors earlier this week to give an update on the wind turbine project which is targeted to begin operation in 2027 according to a release from the company.

The release added that Invenergy invests more than $11.7 million annually in Nebraska through local taxes, land costs and lease payments, and project-generated wages and benefits. The company is headquartered in Chicago, has transmission and storage facilities in the Americas, Europe, and Asia, and has regional development offices in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Spain, Japan, Poland, and Scotland.
