The State High School Quiz Bowl, hosted by ESU 9, is set to take place on Wednesday (April 24) at North Shore Assembly of God Church in Hastings. Anselmo-Merna is among the 30 teams from across the state that qualified for competition.
The Coyote team consists of Aaron Bartak, Bode Bumgarner, Ethan Chandler, Colin Cooksley, Josiah Griffith, Karsee McGinn, Adyson Priest, Caenyn Priest, and Owen Wright.
Season highlights for the team leading up to state competition include placing first in Callaway against 10 teams, placing second against 34 teams in ESU 10 competition, and winning the MNAC conference competition while going 9-1.
Competition runs from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm Wednesday in double elimination format. Anselmo-Merna’s opening matchup is against Falls City Sacred Heart. The winner will face the victor in the Beatrice and Lutheran High Northeast matchup.
