Annual Polar Bear Tank Race returns in March

If you’re looking for some late-winter fun in the heart of the Sandhills, the 17th Annual Polar Bear Tank Race just might fit the bill.

The Race, slated for March 7-8 on the Middle Loup River near Mullen, serves a dual purpose: first, to allow people the unique experience of tanking on the Middle Loup in the winter, and second, to raise money for the Sandhills Journey National Scenic Byway.

Festivities begin Friday, March 7th at the Mullen Event Center with registration of teams and a welcome reception. Also included on the eve of the race is a soup cook-off, before drawings for race departure times are held.

Saturday, March 8th begins with a breakfast at the Event Center, followed by busses carrying tank racers to the launch area.

A hot lunch will be provided after the race, followed by an awards banquet at the Event Center.

Race capacity is limited, so register now!
