Nutrient-rich and organic compost will be available for free to local gardeners from Adams Land & Cattle again this year, making it the seventh Compost Days held by the Custer County business. Compost will be given out Saturday May 2 from 9 AM to 1 PM and Sunday May 3 from Noon until 3 PM.
Those wanting compost are encouraged to bring buckets to the loadout facility just north of the South Lot entrance on Highway 21 outside of Broken Bow.
This year’s compost will be sourced from some of the newly constructed roller-compacted concrete pens at the lot. As a result, it is stated to be highly nutrient-rich compost that has minimal soil content. Through a 50-50 blend of manure compost and humus compost, nutrients and water holding capacity of soil can be boosted significantly.
“With our continued focus on sustainability and recycling natural resources, the composting process creates a great product for the health of the soil,” said Abram Babcock, CEO of ALCC. “We truly enjoy being able to give back to our local friends and neighbors to support their gardens during our Adams Compost Days.”
Adams Land & Cattle thanked Bio-Ag Solutions for partnering with them on the project and encouraged watching their website and Facebook pages in case dates have to be rescheduled or canceled due to weather or availability of compost.
