The 64th Annual Nebraska One Box Pheasant Hunt gets underway this week according to recent “Breakfast Show” guests. Joining us last week to highlight activities associated with this year’s hunt were Chairs Andy and Sadye Taylor, as well as Vice-Chairs Hunter and Faith Thomas.
There will be seven new teams from across the country at this year’s hunt that unofficially kicks off with the Elaine Bayer Fish Fry on Wednesday night. Hunters’ activities officially start on Thursday, November 7th with a new team reception and the past shooters party. On Friday, trap shoot and sporting clays competition will be held at the One Box Shooting Complex with cocktail parties and a banquet completing Friday’s schedule for participants. The One Box hunt and victory banquet on Saturday will wrap up the 2024 activities.
The One Box Ladies Board will provide entertainment this Friday and Saturday for spouses, guests, and the public. On Friday, November 8th, a “Birds of a Feather” cocktail class will be held at Kinkaider’s starting at 11:00 a.m. On Saturday, a ladies luncheon featuring comedian and ventriloquist, Kevin Horner, is planned at the One Box Convention Center. Tickets for these events are available at the Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce through November 6th or at the door after that date.
The One Box Pheasant Hunt’s yearly events and raffle ticket sales support scholarships for area youth and habitat programs. A total of $17,750 from the One Box Foundation Board and Ladies Board was awarded to 26 scholarship recipients in 2023. One Box also works with Pheasants Forever and the Nebraska Game and Parks to help improve pheasant populations in our area.
