OCONTO- The annual Oconto Volunteer Fire Department’s Blowin the Doors Off BBQ will be this Saturday, June 1, 2024, starting at 5 p.m.
It is an all-you-can-eat BBQ with adults costing $17 for tickets paid in advance or $20 for tickets paid at the gate. Kids ages 5-12 are $10.
There will be 7 teams of cookers for the food contest as well as ice cream and an onsite beer garden.
They will have live entertainment by South Loup Sunrise and James Lee Band. South Loup Sunrise will perform from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., while James Lee Band will perform from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.
At 7 p.m. there will be a raffle drawing and auction. Some of the raffle drawing items include a Traeger Grill, Henry Golden Boy Rifle, Remington 870 Shotgun, and Grocery Kart Beef/Wine Gift Certificate. Jared Eggleston says that the raffle will take place in between the music acts as a break as well as a time to announce awards for the food contest.
“They raffle off our prizes, they do the awards for the cookers, some thank yous to people that have helped us. Just a little break allow the people to reorganize their seats and grab another drink and get situated for the next show,” said Eggleston.
