BROKEN BOW – The Sandhills Task Force has scheduled its 2023 Youth Range Camp for June 5 through 8.
Students ages 14 to 18 with an interest in rangeland management, conservation, ecology, animal science, and wildlife are encouraged to attend the 59th installment of the Nebraska Youth Range Camp in Curtis at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.
The camp provides hands-on experience with rangeland and natural resources, and all workshops are taught by nearly 20 professionals from a variety of agencies, colleges, and universities. As the curriculum has been honed and perfected over 55 years, every student, no matter the level of prior experience, will gain insight into crucial information to help them become more aware of Nebraska’s primary use of land.
Attendees will participate in field activities, lectures, leadership and team-building exercises, and a field trip to a local working ranch. The aim of the camp’s activities is to illustrate different goals related to range management and how processes are implemented to obtain them. Each student will return home from the camp with additional educational materials.
Interested individuals can find more information, an application, and a brochure by visiting the Nebraska Society for Range Management’s website, or sending an email to the Sandhills Task Force. Applications are due by Friday, May 26. Local Natural Resources Districts may have scholarships available.
