Nebraska beef cattle producers will have an opportunity to learn more about virtual fencing technology through a free webinar series hosted by Nebraska Extension coming up in November.

The 2026 UNL Virtual Fencing Pitch and Panel Webinar Series will take place online Nov. 17, 19 and 23, with each session scheduled from 7 to 8:30 PM Central time, or 6 to 7:30 PM Mountain time. Each webinar will conclude with a panel discussion.

The series will bring together University of Nebraska–Lincoln researchers, virtual fencing companies and livestock producers to discuss current research, available systems and real world experiences using the technology in grazing management.

The first session on November 17 will focus on virtual fencing research updates. Topics will include cattle stress responses, separating groups of cattle within a pasture, rangeland grazing, strip grazing and the frequency of grazing moves. Researchers will also discuss potential future cost share programs for Nebraska producers.

On November 19, representatives from four virtual fencing companies — Halter, Monil, Nofence and eShepherd, a Gallagher product — will present their systems. The session will include overviews of product features and platforms, along with demonstrations of the accompanying apps.

The final session, November 23, will feature livestock producers who have incorporated virtual fencing into their operations. They will share the benefits and challenges they have experienced, lessons learned and what they wish they had known before implementing the technology.

The series is intended to help cattle producers understand how virtual fencing systems work, compare available options and determine whether the technology could be a good fit for their grazing operations.

Attendance is free, with sponsorship support provided by Halter, Monil, Nofence and eShepherd (Gallagher).

Registration is available online at https://go.unl.edu/26vf. Those who register will receive instructions for accessing the webinars.
