Area 4-H clubs celebration National 4-H week with hay bale decorating contest

To celebrate National 4-H week, area 4-H clubs engaged in a friendly hay bale decorating contest. The theme for the contest was ‘We are 4-H Strong’, sponsored by the Custer County 4-H Council.

Displays will be up through October 10 and the 4-H clubs encourage a drive across the area to see them.

The first place entry from the Burr Oak 4-H Club in southern Custer County is on display at the Burr Oak church. The second place entry at the intersection of Highway 2 and 183 south of Ansley was put together by the Ansley Jr. Livestock 4-H Club. The Middle Loup 4-H Club of Sargent came in third, with their display at Roberts Chiropractic in Sargent along main street. Honorable mention went to the Oconto 4-H club, with their display set up on the southwest corner of the intersection of highways 21 and 40.
