Burwell hosted its annual cross country invitational on Thursday. Athletes competed on a 4,000 meters course.
Delani Runnels of Niobrara/Verdigre was the girls individual champion in a winning time of 15:41. Among the area highlights, Shylee Gonzales of Sandhills/Thedford was runner-up with a time of 16:24.10. Burwell’s Lena Spencer placed third (16:46.3) and teammate Jalise Busch placed fourth (17:02.4). South Loup placed four runners in the top fifteen. Jade Bierman was fifth (17:13.4), Delanie Wienman was 8th (18:29.6), Chloe Coleman was 9th (18:30.6) and Danielle Bird was 13th (20:02.7). Bayler Clay of Ansley/Litchfield finished in the top fifteen placing 11th (18:35.4). South Loup was the girls team champion followed by Burwell in second. For full girls results click here.
Jasiel Monasterio of West Holt was the boys individual champion with a winning time of 15:17.4. Among the area highlights, Walter Bierman of South Loup placed third (15:36.1) and Dagen Fletcher of South Loup finished in the top ten placing 10th (17:03.1). JJ Maynard of Burwell was sixth (15:54.5). Others from the KCNI/KBBN coverage area who finished in the top fifteen included Carter Peterson of Twin Loup placing 11th (17:21.8), and Dylanger Schledewitz of SEM placed 12th (17:21.9). Chambers Wheeler Central won the boys team championship followed by Niobrara/Verdigre in second. For full boys results click here.
