Custer County District Court was in session on Thursday, August 27th with Judge Karin Noakes presiding. Two criminal cases came before the court.
Appearing for his arraignment was Louis E. Keezer, age 37 of Ansley. Keezer is charged with two counts—possession with intent to distribute marijuana, a Class IIA felony, and possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, a Class IV felony. The charges are a result of an arrest in July of this year. The defendant pleaded not guilty to both cases and Judge Noakes set his jury trial for October 19, 2026. Keezer was remanded back to the custody of the Custer County Sheriff.
Danielle N. Hopkins, age 43 of Broken Bow, appeared remotely, but her attorney Gary Peterson was present in court. In May, Hopkins entered a plea of not guilty to the charge of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, a Class IV felony. Since then, she has been accepted in the North Central Problem Solving Court. During her hearing on Thursday, Hopkins changed her not guilty plea to guilty. Judge Noakes accepted that plea and found her guilty of the charge. Sentencing is deferred until the defendant completes drug court or until she leaves the program prior to completion.
