The Broken Bow volleyball team begins its season tonight as they host Hershey at the Indian gym. Speaking at the Broken Bow Athletic Booster Club Fall Sports kick off event, head coach Skylar Morris said one of the main areas of focus coming into the season has been defense.
“Yeah, we definitely have a young crew. We have four seniors, so our seniors are a small class. Our juniors are fairly large, but they have very limited playing experience and then our sophomores have that freshman year. We played about three freshmen last year, I believe so they’ll all be returning and expected to have huge roles as well. Our biggest replacement is I lost my entire back row and my two middle blockers. So defense, blocking, serve receive, those have been our big areas of focus.”
Tonight’s varsity match between Broken Bow and Hershey is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com.
Other area volleyball matchups scheduled for today include:
Ansley/Litchfield at the Elm Creek Triangular
South Loup at Ainsworth
Burwell Triangular with Twin Loup and Stuart
Arcadia/Loup City at Wood River
Anselmo-Merna vs Brady
SEM vs Gibbon
Sandhills Valley at Hayes Center Triangular
The Broken Bow cross country team begins its season today at the North Platte Invite. Speaking at the Broken Bow Athletic Booster Club Fall Sports Kickoff, head coach Jason Daffer said he was pleased with the way the team came out of the summer and entered fall practice.
“Our kids have done a great job this summer showing up consistently for summer training. We train at six in the morning Monday through Thursday, start June 1st and just carry on through to fall practice and so yeah, really pleased with where we’re at right now.”
Other area teams scheduled to join Broken Bow at the North Platte Invite include Mullen and Sandhills Valley. Burwell will host its cross country invitational today. Area teams scheduled to compete include Burwell, Sandhills/Thedford, SEM, Twin Loup, South Loup, and Ansley/Litchfield.
Also on the local sports calendar today, Broken Bow and Arcadia/Loup City are scheduled to compete at the Kearney Catholic girls golf invite while Mullen and Burwell are among the area teams scheduled to compete at the Ainsworth girls golf invite today.
