Marlene Amos age 81, of Broken Bow, NE, passed away on August 4, 2026.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 11:30 AM at
the Dry Valley Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Comstock Den. A visitation
and time to greet the family will be held on Monday, August 10 th from 9:30 to 11:00 AM
at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow, Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of

Marlene Joy Amos was born Oct. 28, 1944. She was the third of five children. Her family lived on a ranch outside of Burwell and later relocated to Alliance for her father’s work at CB&Q railroad.
At the age of 8, the family moved to Oregon where Marlene attended school in Springfield. In 1959, the family moved back to Nebraska where Marlene attended high school at Comstock. She was voted Homecoming Queen and graduated from Comstock in 1963.
Marlene and Marvin Amos were married on Nov. 18th, 1964. They had 5 children: Sandy (John) Delp of Lincoln, NE; Brenda Amos; Bobbie Summerford (Billy); Bradley (Nikki) Amos; and Randy Amos (Emily). Marlene & Marvin lived in Sargent until 1974 when they moved to Anselmo.
Marlene worked as a waitress in Sargent after high school. She was a dedicated employee at Becton Dickinson in Broken Bow and retired after 32 years.
Marlene was involved in many activities. She was an avid bowler, competing in state tournaments, and has her name on the wall of fame at Pleasure Lanes in Broken Bow. She enjoyed square dancing with the Wagon Wheelers of Anselmo. She cherished playing cards with her friends.
Marlene was the rock for her family and well known for her amazing skills in the kitchen, especially her fried chicken, fresh bread, and chocolate mayonnaise cake. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Marlene is survived by her two sisters, four children, ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Robert & Albert, and daughter, Brenda.
