A threshing show is planned for August 8 at 10 a.m. west of Arcadia.
Rolen and Betty Jo Sell will host an old-fashioned threshing bee on their farm one mile west of Arcadia on 800th Road. It is a free event that will start at 10 a.m. and go until the field is completed. Concessions and free homemade ice cream will be available.
The last time a threshing show was hosted was in 2015 and 2010, but this event is part of celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. Rolen Sell explains that it’s a time to see how things used to be done and encourages families to go out and participate.
“This is a family event and will be an opportunity for old timers to remember the days when they did this farm work and for the younger generations to experience the history of our area in person,” stated Sell.
Teams of workhorses and hayracks to haul the bundles to the threshing machine are welcome. Also, volunteers will be needed for the event.
