Livin Out Loud Will Be Held At Lake Helen in Gothenburg August 15

Lake Helen in Gothenburg will host the 13th Livin’ Out Loud Christian concert on August 15.

Starting at 4:45, artists will begin taking the outdoor stage at Lake Helen Recreation Area in Gothenburg. Danny Gokey will headline the event this year and will take the stage around 9 p.m. Performing ahead of him will be Logan and Katie, All the Noise, Band Reeves, and Megan Woods.

Livin’ Out Loud is a free event for the whole family. Event organizer Ellen Mortensen explained that it’s an event for all ages.

“One of the things I love most about it is the wide range of ages that attend. When I say it’s a family-friendly atmosphere, it truly is. I mean, there are kids, or there are families that bring their little biddies with them. I see little toddlers all the way up to grandparents, people much older than me,” stated Mortensen.

Not only is the event for all ages, but it is also open to all Christian denominations and all religions. Mortensen stated how the event is great even for people who aren’t necessarily Christian, but just love music.

“Anybody who likes music would love this event. Yeah. It’s just music with a positive message. There aren’t cuss words; there’s nothing negative. It’s just uplifting and positive and just makes you feel good and happy,” said Mortensen.

While the concert is free, food vendors, merchandise, and games will be set up, and it is recommended to pay with cash at the vendors. Attendees are also encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets that can be set up before the event begins.

After the concert on Saturday, attendees can leave their chairs and return on Sunday for a worship service starting at 10 a.m. This year the service will be led by Aaron Davis and Megan Woods.

Livin’ Out Loud started as a free community worship night in 2013 with around 3,500 people. Now, 13 years later, it has grown and draws over 20,000 attendees each year, while remaining free. It is all funded by private donors and sponsors each year, and run by volunteers.
