The Custer County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday, July 28th, in the Courthouse. All members were present.
Minutes of the July 2nd and July 14th meetings were tabled. Amended minutes of the June 23rd meeting and minutes of the special meeting held on July 22nd were approved.
The Board approved Resolution #21-2026 and appointed Tammy Kleeb, Sheri Bryant, Amy Oxford, Nick Olson, and Mark Rempke to the handbook committee. New appointments will be made in January 2027.
Also approved were Resolutions #22-2026 and Resolution #23-2026. These resolutions allow for road closures during the Sandhills Open Road Challenge races that will be held on August 7th and August 8th.
Resolution 24-2026, substitution of securities at First National Bank Sargent was approved.
County Treasurer Sheri Bryant presented a semi-annual statement to the Board. Figures and information were from January 1 of this year through June 30th. The Board had no questions about the report.
An Interlocal Agreement with the Broken Bow Airport Authority was approved. The level of county support is the same as last year.
The final regular meeting agenda item before the Board was increasing out-of-county fees for use of the recycling center. Supervisor Clay Govier reported on discussions he recently held with Recycling Manager Kelly Flynn and how Flynn handles out-of-county bills and payments, as well as a possible increase of those fees. Currently, the cost to out-of-county users is two cents per pound and Govier said he and Flynn thought increasing that fee to four cents per pound was a good starting point. After additional discussion, the motion to increase the fee was approved.
Meeting as the Board of Equalization, the Board acknowledged a cemetery report from County Assessor Elise Taylor and also approved some tax list corrections. A motor vehicle exemption application for the Callaway Good Life Center was presented and approved.
The next regular meeting of the County Board of Supervisors is August 11th.
