Bow Seniors Begin Play at Area Tournament Today – Game on KBBN

The Broken Bow American Legion seniors baseball team begins play today in the double elimination Class B Area 5 tournament in O’Neill.  Broken Bow is 16-13 on the season and enter the tournament as the #5 seed.  Broken Bow will open against #4 seed and the host team O’Neill tonight.  O’Neill enters tournament play with a 13-8 overall record.  The winner of tonight’s game advances out to the winner’s bracket where they will face top seed Central City on Saturday.  Central City received a bye in the first round.  The loser will drop down to the elimination bracket where they will not play again until Sunday.  Tonight’s game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. All Broken Bow games from the area tournament will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com

Other first round games at the Area 5 tournament today include #2 seed Wayne vs #7 seed Pierce at 1 p.m. followed by #3 seed West Point vs #6 seed Albion at 4 p.m.

The seven team double elimination tournament continues through Tuesday (July 28).

Teams will be playing for the opportunity to qualify for the upcoming Class B state tournament.  The Class B state tournament is divided into two divisional tournaments with the tournament winners facing each other for the outright state title.  Central City will host the National Division tournament.  As a result, Central City receives an automatic bid to the state tournament.  Therefore, the two teams that finish highest in the Area 5 tournament, outside of Central City, will also qualify for state.
